We just finished the month of March
which I now fancy as the month when stinging nettles come back.
Poking out from ferns,
clustered, velvety and vibrant.
I got my first nettle stings this year.
Brushed along my wrist, the tip of my finger.
They welt up red, and the pain can last an evening or a day,
depending on how direct the sting sticks you.
But I don't mind.
They say, "Hey! I'll feed you,
but remember me!"
This makes me smile every time I read it. <3
